Morrison Telecom Services Launches Bespoke Risk Assessment App for Operational Teams 2nd July 2019

Morrison Telecom Services (MTS), a leading provider of infrastructure design, build and maintenance in the fixed telecom market, and a part of M Group Services, has developed a new risk assessment app that will enable our people in the field to conduct safety assessments directly from their smartphones and tablet devices.

The bespoke app features pre-loaded hazard and control lists that can be applied to works taking place across the company’s telecom contracts. The app is also being adopted by fellow M Group Services company Morrison Utility Services, across its gas, water and electricity clients.

The app enables users to quickly and easily complete comprehensive risk assessments by assessing the likelihood and seriousness of specific hazards and digitally capturing their findings. Users can snap and attach supporting photographs or video using their device’s camera and use GPS functionality to identify their exact location. Additional notes and control measures can also be submitted in free form text boxes, with the final risk assessment saved as a PDF report that can be accessed and monitored for quality.

Director of IT, Innovation & Improvement Andy Carter commented:Our Intelligent Solutions team has worked closely with our SHEQ colleagues to produce the bespoke Risk Assessment app that provides another fantastic example of how we’re using the latest digital technology to ensure our operational teams are working more efficiently and safely.”

Morrison Telecom Services Head of SHEQ Richard McCullough adds: “The app is easy to use and will help to raise safety and quality standards across our business. The app offers a cost-efficient and forward-thinking alternative to traditional hard-copy risk assessments that will save time for our business and enable our people in the field to create and digitally capture comprehensive and accurate risk assessments directly from site, providing the necessary ‘Authority to Proceed’.”
